The Los Angeles Times published a story in this mornings edition written by Francine Orr documenting the decline and ultimate death of a woman named Evelyn Corsini, as well as the decline and death of Ms. Orr's father, Frank Orr.
The article is beautifully written, but it's also very emotional, upsetting and painfully honest. For me, this was a tough read and at times I almost stopped reading it. What happened to Ms. Corsini and Mr. Orr are exactly what scares the hell out of me the most when I get older. The loss of independence, the need to rely on others for everything - these are my worst fears.
I could go on and write some additional paragraphs about this story but to be honest, there is not really anything to add.
Take a few minutes to read the article -it's quite moving.
