Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) broke "a number of ribs and bones in his face" after an accident that occurred while he was exercising at home, his office said in a statement Friday.
There's not much more detail in the official
statement from Reid's office. Time Magazine
notes
When the new Congress is sworn in, the Nevada Democrat will get demoted from Senate majority leader to minority leader. He’s been feuding with President Obama, and he’ll need to start gearing up to run for re-election next year.
This is inevitably going to add additional burdens on Reid and the Democrats in the Senate, and is already provoking comments on the symbolism of a wounded Democratic leader.
Here's hoping Senate Minority Leader Reid makes a speedy recovery.
