I know what you're thinking. 2015 will absolutely suck because the GOP now controls both houses of Congress. Yeah, that sucks, but as a whole, 2015 has to be better.
In case you've forgotten what a total annus horribilis that 2014 was, let's go to a snarky recap:
But First, A Word From Our Sponsor:

Lest we forget the worst of 2014:
Polar vortexes brought record shattering cold to the lower 48 while ushering in temps in the 60s to Alaskan winter.
Our media ignored the largest climate change rally ever.
Civil unrest
Police violence against citizens of color leading to the deaths of many (however, Cliven Bundy, being white, had the police flee from him).
Republican freak-outs over every single thing (except police violence, Cliven Bundy not paying his taxes, our continued wars and military spending, massing evidence of man-made climate change and the damage it causes, pay inequality, increases in poverty and hunger .... you get the picture).
The Supreme Court allowing corporations to impose their religious beliefs of their employees - well, only the employees that are female and seeking contraception. And also enabling even more election purchasing by billionaires.
Ebola is going to kill us all! (Well, at least until Election Day when they shut the hell up about it)
GM being forced to recall vehicles that were killing people because they wanted to save a few bucks.
Continuing 2016 Presidential speculation ad nauseum during the 2014 election cycle.
Phil Robertson and the rest of his clown show.
Horrible people elected and re-elected to office.
Bridgegate and Chris Christie resumed his bullying after he was safely re-elected.
Republicans taking over the Senate and even more seats in the House (thanks, gerrymandering).
Democrats running away from the Affordable Care Act and President Obama (yeah, they lost with that strategy).
No progress at all except for big gains in marriage equality in the Courts.
And then there was the post Christmas into New Years inbox infestation of increasingly desperate pleas for money from the DNC, DCCC, OFA, and so many others. No matter how hard I try, I can't get off their mailing lists which have been likened to Hotel California where you can check in, but never leave.
It was an effing horrible year. Here's hoping that 2015 is better to us. It really can't get much worse than 2014 has been.

This insightful comment on the KKK by Navy Vet Terp. From Remembering the Rosewood Massacre by Denise Oliver Velez.
From Remediator and my colleague Tara the Antisocial Social Worker:
When you get more than one submission on the same comment you know it's a great one. And this one by BenderRodriguez is hilarious. From National Organization for Marriage and its comically brave face by Steven Payne (formerly known as Stevenigen).
From Yasuragi:
How does a comment from a troll (now with bojo) get to Top Comments? When it's the ugly starting point for a most excellent thread and, according to Yasuragi, "a fantastic bit of troll sleuthing by AnacharsisClootz and Jackson L. Haveck, and a brilliant response by Remediator". This is likely the first time a link to a hide-rated comment has even appeared in Top Comments. From Remembering the Rosewood Massacre by Denise Oliver Velez.
From eyesoars:
This funny comment by nailbender (make sure to look at the picture in the diary first for the full effect and then make sure to swallow anything in your mouth). Also, scroll down to read the reaction to nailbender's comment. There's plenty more funny there, too. From BREAKING: Speaker Gohmert? by zenbassoon.
Flagged by JoanMar:
This astute definition by MrJayTee. From Remembering the Rosewood Massacre by Denise Oliver Velez.
