I know this isn't the most pressing issue in America but with the suspicion of elections not exactly being on the up and up with paper-less voting machines, it just seems like more and more every aspect of our life is being controlled. I have been watching NFL football for 40 years, I have never seen an incident like the one that occurred in the Lions - Cowboys playoff game today....More after the orange goal line..
With third and one near midfield the Detroit Lions threw a pass to a receiver with a defender draped all over him...The referee immediately ( and correctly I might add) called pass interference against Dallas. Usually when the refs throw a flag and they announced the penalty, that's it...but this time for the first time ever it wasn't..

Now the announcers asked Mike Perriera a referee consultant on the broadcast and he said it most definitely was a penalty, no question. The referees inexplicably picked up the flag and gave no explanation, just continued play.
Now , next week the network has a much more marketable game between the Cowboys and The Green Bay packers. It will bring much higher ratings than a Lions- Packers matchup.
Many fans (not just me) have been noticing an increasing influence of referees to direct the game in a certain way. It is naïve to think that a billion dollar business like the NFL to not want certain outcomes to help their business. I for one am pretty much done with the NFL. It is a business not a sport. We all know corporations run our lives, and now they are ruining whatever escape we have the hunger games mentality of society lately.
I am going to make a New Years vow here and now to spend more time with my family and no more time wasted watching such a bogus sport....and by the way I am not a fan of either team.
