Even if Bill Cosby is ultimately cleared of allegations that he molested several women, by all rights his career should have ended at a performance in London, Ontario on Thursday night. When a woman in the first row got up, Cosby asked her what she was doing. She replied she was getting a drink--prompting Cosby to say, "You have to be careful drinking around me."
The audience apparently knew what he meant--they ooohed for a bit before breaking out into applause. With one notable exception, according to Richard Warnica of Canada's National Post.
While that joke may not have proven he was a rapist, it definitely proves that Cosby is a despicable jerk. That's about the only way you can describe anyone who would even think it was acceptable to tell such a "joke." I'd like to know if Cosby would be willing to say this to the face of any woman who has actually had something slipped into her drink. Somehow, I doubt she'd find this to be at all funny. This kind of joke may have been acceptable a long time ago, but it isn't now.
Even if Cosby is completely exonerated, after this no endorser should touch him with a 10-foot pole.
