Actually, this is an open letter to Congressman Doug Lamborn (R-CO5), who was just re-elected to he seventh term representing Colorado's 5th District. By extension, I include all the various representatives who were both newly placed and re-elected this year, because the new ones are pretty much the lunatic fringe of the GOP, and the rest (96.4% of incumbents), while possibly sane, are generally party hacks and drones, and really don't do much for the districts they allegedly represent.
While that statement may be a rash generalization for the whole of Congress, it most certainly applies to YOU, Mr. Lamborn. You originally got your seat because the CO GOP wanted someone easily controlled in their nice, safe sinecure of the 5th,and there you were - a non-entity fresh from a term in the State legislature, and about as appealing as cold pancakes with no syrup. But, since the most of the 5th District is El Paso County, and most of El Paso County is Colorado Springs, and since Colorado Springs is the 4th most conservative city in the US and votes R consistently, you were a made-to-order, prefabricated and totally inflatable candidate.
And so, you entered the hallowed halls of the United States House of Representatives, blissfully voted the way the bosses directed, did nothing to distinguish yourself, even after a few good committee assignments (but never a chairmanship) and pretty much ignored your home district, except for elections and fund-raisers. And, I am assuming, like all proper party hacks and tools, spent an inordinate amount of time making phone calls to raise not only your own re-election funds, but funds for the party also.
The question, therefore, is what do you face now that you've again backed into your stall and prepare for another two years of being another Congressional non-entity? Lets look at a few specifics, below the orange squiggle:
I wrote the upper remarks just after the midterm results posted, thinking I might be able to actually impress some truth about life in the 5th on you, and by extension the rest of the vast majority of us in the US who are trying to stay afloat in a sea of GOP-created flotsam and jetsam.
The question I raise to you, and to all those other GOP incumbents who did nothing for America the past two Congresses, and now, being in charge, have decided to do as much as possible to prevent any possible improvement in the economic or social conditions, that very situation you have fought so hard to maintain in the past.
I have written several e-mails to you in the past couple of weeks, pointing out some rather glaring problems - the science denial rife in your party, the abuse you continue to heap on the poor, the senior citizens, the veterans and the disabled in the form of lower benefits, no jobs and cutbacks, all the while making sure the evil axis of wall street, the rich and corporations get the advantages of lower taxes and loopholes, and bailouts that help them and hurt the majority of us, the REAL people here.
The responses I received were typical political double-speak combined wit the GOP talking points, attempting to absolve you of any possible responsibility for the ruin of the country.
And now, the newest indignity of a bill to limit the powers of the President concerning his ability to designate new National Monuments and thereby save our most vulnerale lands from corporate rape.
The question, Mr Lamborn, and all you other GOP dittoheads that blindly follow the misguided leaders of your party, is why are you even there? What are you good for? Why don't you just go ahead and take your 3 or 4 days a week off as a PERMANENT vacation, and spare the country the embarrassment of watching you ever-lasting circle-jerk in DC?
