This is just silly. Alex Nash, a five-year-old from Cornwall, England, was invited to a birthday party. His parents accepted, then realized they had plans for Alex to spend time with his grandparents. So Alex skipped the party. Happens, right? That's when things got weird.
An invoice for £15.95 was sent by his schoolfriend's mother Julie Lawrence, who said Alex's non-attendance left her out of pocket and his parents had her details to tell her he was not going.
Alex's father Derek said he had been told he would be taken to the small claims court for refusing to pay.
The invoice was found in an envelope in Alex's schoolbag. According to Alex's father it was "a proper invoice with full official details and even her bank details on it," and included a "no-show" fee:
While I understand it's polite to RSVP when you're not going to a party, this is just ridiculous.
