Astrology Favorites
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group gives Kossacks a safe place to check in, a daily diary where we can let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, earthquakes, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It also allows us to find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, earthquakes etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a Kosmail and ask to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
We do have a diary schedule. But, when you are ready to write that diary, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMOM a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FloridaSNMOM is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.

I've spent a lot of time surfing the web looking for what I consider enjoyable and legitimate astrology sites. I'd like to share some of my favorites with you today.
Follow me below the orange curlicue for more.
A favorite political astrology site with a robust commenting community is Starlight News. The author, Nancy Sommers, is an amazing predictive astrologer and uses the birth charts (among other charts) of political leaders to give concise and accurate views into future political trends. The commenters are mostly left leaning, but also run the gamut of left to right. Before I started following this blog, I had no idea there were conservative astrologers. Heh.
Another favorite is Anne Ortelee's site. On the left of her web page are links to her weekly radio shows. Every Sunday at 3.30pm PST (usually) she broadcasts a half hour show on the astrological week ahead. This is a lot of fun & can be accessed anytime by following the link. She also has a written discussion of the astrology for the week at her website. She brings astrology down to earth and uses regular English to explain what's happening.
Check out the other links on the left sidebar. The first one is Anne plus two other astrologers who will take your calls - just give them your birth data once you get through and ask your question. I also like the "Scorpios Talking" broadcast - Michael Colberg & Anne chat about this and that - mostly Michael.
For those of you who like the hard science of the skies this site has all your up to date space weather. Make sure to check out the photo gallery. There are amazing photos on the front page and updates on what's happening, like this excerpt from the site:
BRIGHT ASTEROID FLYBY: A large asteroid is about to fly past Earth. On the night of Jan. 26-27, mountain-sized space rock 2004 BL86 will be only 3 times farther from us than the Moon. There's no danger of a collision, but the flyby will be easy to observe. Sunlight reflected from the surface of 2004 BL86 will make it glow like a 9th magnitude star. Amateur astronomers with even small backyard telescopes will be able to see it zipping among the stars of the constellation Cancer.
Check out the website for a video on how to view it!
The realastrologers (the name always gives me a chuckle) blog is an insightful discussion of the week ahead - it posts on Mondays. Pat Paquette does discuss in last week's post how the internet could be affected by Mercury retrograde since Mercury is currently in the sign that rules the internet. Go figure.
And finally, this website will cast your astrological chart with your input and give you free mini readings about your chart, what's ahead, you and your partner's reading and lots of fun stuff. This is my go to website when I want to find out the positions of asteroids which more and more modern western astrologers are using in chart readings. The site is home to the Swiss ephemeris which is the standard in accuracy for planetary positions. Also, on the right hand side of the home page are the current astrological positions of all the planets (including the Sun & Moon).
Hope you find something of interest in one of these sites. I follow more sites, but that's me. Astrology is my passion!
I'll be gone from about 7am PST to 5pm PST today.
