..a short film by Kathryn Bigelow written up @ TIME by Nolan Feeney | Dec. 4, 2014
“Last year I was made aware of the very real connection between elephant poaching and terrorism,” Bigelow tells TIME. “For me it represented the diabolical intersection of two problems that are of great concern — species extinction and global terrorism. Both involve the loss of innocent life, and both require urgent action.”
- Kathryn Bigelow
I thought the drawings really told the story, an awful story and its dangerous connections that has been under reported. A chain of violence from once side of the world to the other
Although this: "sadly, there is no way to make extinction go backwards" - should be enough to tell it - imo
An elephant is killed every 15 minutes, 96 a day, 33,793 a year. Elephants in the wild could be extinct in 11 years.

Because the elephant is such a magnificent being and my focus here, please let me get this thing out of the way:
There have been critics that included Kathryn Bigelow as another liberal helping in "carrying water" for torture advocates, and as for the Hollywood entertainment industry on the whole they aren't completely off the mark, yet also seem to be 'punching down' when singling out individuals instead of the larger corporate entertainment target.
I've commented on the corporate dominance of media on a different topic, but one that relates in the sense that "conservatives" often build characters that espouse progressive Dem values and rhetoric with a number of purposes; the main being as a disguise for an agenda that few people would accept.
Note: I'm a month behind on this, so it's probably not new to Daily Kos, but it was to me until just recently. So just spreading the word for those who haven't seen 'Last Days'
- time to turn in, be back later today - spread the word & thank you
