Tonight's guest on The Daily Show is Oscar Isaac. Tonight's topic on The Nightly Show is on money in politics and the Koch brothers with David Webb, Zephyr Teachout, Hari Kondabolu and Ted Alexandro as the panel members.
Oscar Isaac is an actor and singer best known for his role in Inside Llewyn Davis. Tonight he is on to discuss his latest movie
A Most Violent Year
In New York City 1981, an ambitious immigrant fights to protect his business and family during the most dangerous year in the city's history.
'A Most Violent Year' reminiscent of 'Godfather'
Oscar Isaac plays Abel Morales, a hardworking immigrant who's trying to capture a slice of the American dream. He's inherited his father-in-law's heating oil business and his wife, Anna (Jessica Chastain), is in charge of keeping the books.
Abel prides himself in being honest and fair, and he wants to build his Standard Heating Oil Co. empire without having to resort to the criminal tactics and procedures of the past that Anna's family was known for when they owned the business. While Abel is trying really hard to be legitimate, his wife is having a difficult time letting go of her family's miscreant past.
Ready to take the company to the next level and possibly corner the market, Abel puts a deposit down on a waterfront storage facility. He has taken all of the family's funds to lay down the deposit and he must close the deal within 30 days or lose the property and the money.
Problems arise when the district attorney (David Oyelowo) begins building a case against Abel's business charging him with multiple felony offenses including fraud. This causes the bank to decline a loan Abel was counting on to close the storage facility deal, and to make matters worse someone is hijacking the delivery trucks, stealing the oil and attacking the company's employees.
I don't know if it really is Godfather quality, but it does look like a very good movie.
