Mamma always said it's the most important meal of the day. As is so often the case, controversy currently swirls around this claim, with some saying breakfast does nothing to increase metabolism and not to worry if you skip it. While I am a scientist, I am neither nutritionist nor medical doctor so I'm staying out of the controversy. Breakfast is when coffee happens, and that's good enough reason for ME to try never to skip it :). I have a number of friends whose breakfast remains constant from day to day. It might be yogurt and fruit at home, or a fast-food Sausage Biscuit on the commute to work. Or coffee with a bowl of cereal during the week, and more elaborate choices on the weekend.
I tend to be all over the map in terms of breakfast. Mondays are almost always a 16oz mocha latte with friends in the ritual known as Pretty Coffee, and may or may not include actual food. The rest of the weekdays, I vary between a high-protein cereal like Kashi, oatmeal, or eggs scrambled with whatever leftover veggies I have and vegetarian sausage. Weekends are even more variable depending on what else is going on. We could make pancakes, waffles or biscuits at home, with delicious CSA bacon or sausage on the side. Or it might be a quick english muffins before we head out. Sundays find us at Starbucks before church, where I either have yogurt or an egg sandwich thing.
I am happy to eat the same thing for days on end if it's lunch or dinner, but breakfast really is one meal I change up each day depending on the time I've got available, what's on hand, and what my later plans are. The only constant is caffeine, as I promise I am really not functional until properly infused by coffee. Those who've seen me on the pre-caffeine walk from hotel to Morning News Dump at Netroots Nation can attest to this :).
How about you? Are you a breakfast lover, or is it take it or leave it? If breakfast is how you start your day, are you a creature of habit, or do you mix it up on the continual everchanging buffet of options? Let us know in the comments!

Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.
From 88kathy:
Eileen B started it out suggesting there be a Disney Connection to the backyard gun range. Then I chimed in with my usual sillyness. But then yojimbo hit it out of the park with his comment.
From JG in MD:
4CasandChlo articulates our greatest fear all too well in this comment from Leslie Salzillo's EXCLUSIVE - Koch Brothers, Rick Scott And Jeb Bush Exposed In Florida Pipeline Scandal.
From Ed Tracey:
In the front-page story on the GOP internal split over catering to Vaxxers - as a side debate arose on newly-elected Sen. Thom Tillis wanting to eliminate restaurant employee hand-washing regulations (claiming the market would solve it) - red rabbit notes he doesn't actually want to eliminate regulation ... merely to swap regulations.
From Yours Truly, brillig:
From Jen Hayden's sadly not satirical Republican senator says restaurants should be able to opt-out of mandatory handwashing comes lynn47's explanation.
TakeSake must be top commented for the Wallace & Grommit reference in Hunter's Rand Paul roils wealthy GOP donor conference by wearing wrong style of pants.
