Thursday I started seeing a personal trainer. I think I will learn to hate her.
Below the fold is a short version of my current life. But first a word from our sponsor.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, earthquakes, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, earthquakes etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
Ok, we do have a diary schedule. But, when you are ready to write that diary, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMOM a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FloridaSNMOM is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.

Since my surgery in January, I have not really been doing anything strenuous. While still in the hospital, I did a little gentle yoga and some stretches because I felt tight and constricted. Within a few days of coming home I was back to driving and quickly went back to snowshoeing. Once the stitches were out, I hit the slopes, but only the easy ones because of a fear of falling. And I have to admit to lifting things that I probably should not have attempted. But I live alone - needs must - and I really do know how to lift without hurting anything.
Still, this wasn't enough movement. I could feel the muscles pulling tight, just on the edge of pain (not stupid - I didn't push that hard), and I know if left for too long, I will have a hard time getting back to normal.
So I decided to take advantage of a wonderful resource for cancer patients - Candy's Place. It is a cancer wellness center in Wilkes-Barre with personal trainers, a gym, yoga classes, meditation groups, massage, Reiki, facials, anything you can think of that a cancer patient might need. They do seminars and have guest speakers. It is all FREE. Fabulous place. (More about Candy's Place in a future diary.)
So now I am working on getting back my upper body strength, using that %$^&* ball instead of a bench so I work my core, and a little work on my legs because I have been sitting on my butt for most of the past two months. Two days a week with my trainer, two days a week of yoga classes, one evening of meditation. And as soon as (IF) the snow melts a little, back to running - or maybe just walking at first.
Kayaking season is sneaking up real fast. The river is calling.
So, what is going on in your neck of the woods?
