The Sexism and scandal machine of the 90's and more recently in '08, has started again as Republicans, the media and every talking head on the planet spent the last couple of weeks, followed by a weekend media blitz, attacking Hillary Clinton.
But this time it's a twofer.
The first "scandal" involves the supposed "Conflict Of Interest" because the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation (God that's a mouth-full!) accepts donations from foreign countries with albeit egregious Women's Rights/Human Rights violations.
For the last two weeks, culminating in a video released by the Republican National Committee, attacks have been escalating. Now jumping into the fray are pundits like the National Journal's Ron Fournier calling for her to concede the election before she's even announced her candidacy.
The second supposed scandal, "Email-Gate," has been a non-stop blitz of accusations that Hillary used her own personal email account while Secretary of State. OH THE HORROR!
What is it about a Democratic Politician, specifically Hillary Rodham Clinton, an intelligent, philanthropic, loud and proud feminist that scares middle-aged white men so much?
This isn't about the Clinton foundation, this isn't about what email account she used, this is, as fellow blogger Anna Shane pointed out on this website, about sexism and the great Republican fear of having a vagina in control of the White House.
The fact is that Hillary is a formidable opponent, one who has been making moves, working hard, and politically positioning herself to take the White House since 1993 when she and her husband first entered the capitol upon Bill's first inauguration.
She has fought through scandal and conspiracy, had to stand by her husband as he embarrassed her with his philandering, all the while working non-stop for "Women's Right's as Human Right's," as she first described it in Beijing in 1995. All the while making children's welfare a primary concern of hers and her family's foundation since before it's inception.
Republican's are working so hard to take her down because they are scared! Scared and affronted that a proud feminist woman has the audacity to run for President, not once, but twice now! Republicans are asking themselves: Why won't this bitch just quit?
Why? Because she is passionate, because she is intelligent and clever to a fault, because she has the managerial skill set to do so and to do so well, and lastly she won't quit, not now, not ever, because she is a Woman and a Clinton.
We owe it to women around the world to show that they CAN be President of the most powerful nation on the planet. We owe it to every working single mother, every stay at home mom, every career professional woman who has fought sexism in the workplace, lower wages, sexual harassment; every woman who has been told by a man what she can or cannot do with her body, every woman who has fought tooth and nail to be treated equally, every woman who has put up with domestic abuse by a powerful man who laughs at the idea of his wife going to the police because he beats her.
We owe it to women to say enough is enough. We are not going to listen to this twin farce of a scandal before the nomination process has even begun! If Hillary Rodham Clinton wanted the abuse to stop tomorrow, all she has to do is quit. BUT SHE WON'T! AND THAT SCARES MIDDLE-AGED WHITE MEN MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THE WORLD!!!
From Benghazi bullshit, to email and foreign donation scandals, Hillary just takes the abuse and fights on. She barely even acknowledges it! Not because she's scared, but because SHE KNOWS HER OPPONENTS ARE SCARED.
I for one am sick to death of hearing the innuendo behind every FOX news couch-commentary, every Wall Street Journal editorial, every Ron Fournier article, every Limbaugh-like talk-radio host.
I may not agree with Hillary Clinton on every issue, or agree with every political decision she makes, and i know I was just as disappointed by her Iraq War vote, and refusal to distance herself from it, as every other Progressive activist out there. But this below the belt. These gutless sleazebag attacks on her are sickening to me, and should be sickening to anyone who thinks that a woman can and will be President Of The United States whether that's in 2016 or whenever.
What is it about our culture, that sexism and a fear of strong feminist women scares American men so obviously? We have to ask ourselves why is the only woman running for president being attacked like this, while no one else is?
Where is the outrage at Jeb Bush for bringing in his brother's old torture crew to advise his campaign? Where is the outrage at Scott Walker's attacks on women, unions, environmental rights, abortion right's and voter rights? It's nowhere because they aren't women.
But if anyone has the political prowess to overcome scandal, conspiracy, sexism and an unjust media lynching, it is Hillary. So my advice? Fuck the haters, Hillary! Do your thing girl!
