2 or 3 weeks ago Mom went to the ER and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, pneumonia and a UTI as a bonus.
She was placed in a adjacent rehab facility for further evaluation. She is now a 2 person transfer, though they use a mini crane. Her previous facility could not provide that level of care. Happily a long-term room opened up at the time and she was transferred. Nice part is, this place is affiliated with the hospital and the ER is right down the hall.
She is now in a shared room.
It took a bit to arrange for moving her out as another facility had just given a 30 day notice to all of its residence. The owner is 76 and it was time to actually be retired after 17 years of running the place.
Yesterday was moving day to clear out her apt. and move her stuff into a storage unit.
I got maybe three hours of sleep that night and it was any other thought that came to mind that kept me awake. The move wasn't an issue. The whole thing took 5 hours, including a 28 mile drive to the storage unit. Only hitch was I forgot the 4 digit combo to the lock, but the guys stopped by their shop on the way and got some bolt cutters.
Funny thing early on. She had a cat that she adopted from the county animal shelter and the new facility doesn't allow pets. So I took the cat back to the animal shelter. My territorial, squirrel eating cat would not have been okay with a new resident. Her cat was also declawed on the front paws. They wanted to see a POA authorizing it. Apparently, they have pissed off neighbors who take other peoples pets to turn the pets in. They said they would call call Prestige to verify I was legit. A day or so later a staffer at Prestige went down and adopted the cat.
