Less than two months after losing Stephen Colbert, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show fans were hit with the difficult news that Jon Stewart would also be parting ways. It’s been a difficult few weeks for fans of the “fake news” show, who were found to be more informed than Fox News viewers, but there’s finally relatively good news on the horizon. The Daily Show has chosen Stewart’s replacement.
Jon Stewart’s Replacement
Less than two months after the announcement that he’d be leaving, Comedy Central is ready to announce Jon Stewart’s replacement. Die-hard fans will immediately recognize Trevor Noah, but those who haven’t watched the show religiously may be scratching their heads. This is because Noah only made his debut on the show back in Dec. 2014.
The announcement that Noah will be taking the helm of The Daily Show is expected to take place Monday, March 30, and even Noah was surprised at his good luck. He was in Dubai on a comedy tour when he learn that he’d be Jon Stewart’s replacement. He took the news well, saying:
“You don’t believe it for the first few hours. You need a stiff drink, and then unfortunately you’re in a place where you can’t really get alcohol.”
Even more surprising than Noah’s quick promotion is that you can’t get alcohol in Dubai. Seriously, Dubai?
