As I woke up, I went and filled my coffee pot immediately. Soon after, while waiting for the glorious brew, I drank a tall glass of water.
It had not happened.
Life was good and the morning was just breaking. The chill sweat that had awaked me came from a dream that I had. TPP had passed with few problems. The transnational corporations had bought up all the water and you needed a roll of quarters to flush your toilet, take your shower, brush your teeth and make the pot of coffee.
Farfetched?
Perhaps but picture this:
TPP passes.
Water bottlers are pumping and filling as fast as they can. People wake up and find that the formerly local bottler has been bought up by a corporate shell in the Cayman Islands and the local distribution system has been sold to them and they have shut down the pmping stations that supply your house.
"Hold on," you say. "You can't do that."
"Tell it to the arbitrators" is the response.
I relaxed a bit and decided to back to sleep. Restless, I started counting sheep. ALEC sheep. ( http://www.alec.org/... )
Can't happen?
Playing tax games, corporations can hide their profits and control outside the USA. Think they can't find a corrupt regime to back them somewhere in the Partnership?
Just compare the member countries ( http://en.wikipedia.org/... ) with the list of corrupt countries
( http://www.transparency.org/... ).
I hope some lawyer or accountant can poke big holes in this.
