After the debacle with the #47Traitors, it would seem that Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Xenophobe) has yet to learn his lesson on how not to channel Benedict Arnold.
Apparently, the Senator would like everyone to know that he knows more about the U.S. Constitution than oh, say, some upstart Envoy from Iran. Goddess forbid that some political upstart from a Middle Eastern country know more about the founding documents of the U.S. than he.
More political shenanigans below the fold....
Our esteemed Senator (huh?) took to the Twitterverse this morning and started blasting away like a madman on a squirrel hunt gone awry. In yet another effort to try and sink President Obama's Nuclear deal with Iran, he raged:
My...how nice of him. Calling out Iranian Envoy Javad Zarif as if he's some kind of schoolyard bully looking to pick a fight with another kid. This is who the Tea party have elected to represent them in Congress...the "new, fresh face" of Republican Conservatism that's going to "take back our country" from the hated Libruls.
This could be more more fun to watch than perhaps the Hamilton - Burr duel was to those that saw it in 1804. It's not often that we get to see a politician shooting himself in the foot in real time, and this one looks like it's going to be ugly on so many levels.
Popcorn and other refreshments are on sale in the lobby for those wishing to partake.
Update:
Per a request from Kossack nextyear, this is the tweet from Javad Zarif that started it all...
Zarif's tweet was in response to this dandy that Cotton put up yesterday:
Yikes.
Update, part deux:
Apparently, I suck at reading Twitter timestamps. Let's try this one on for size - this is Zarif's OpEd piece for the NYT written on 20 April.
