Bishop Bobby Hilton and a group of Cincinnati ministers called a press conference yesterday to ask Major League Baseball to support #blacklivesmatter.
The ministers want to use the upcoming All-Star Game being held in Cincinnati to spotlight to speak out about the criminal justice system and the recent deaths of black men in police custody.
Several white supremacists held up protest signs and interrupted the meeting. You can watch video from the press conference as well as the weird protest here.
I'm just not sure what planet these guys live on.
Their signs make no sense. No one is chasing down white people. Diversity and equality are about including everyone. Which would include #whitepeople.
Several people tried to have a conversation with them and it was pretty clear they were just there to disrupt.
The leader of the band was Robert Ransdell, a former candidate for senate in Kentucky and a member of the National Alliance. He used his Senate campaign to spread the slogan "With Jews we lose".
The protesters all seem to somehow think they are victims of ... treating people equally?
Isn't treating others as you would like to be treated the Golden Rule?
This video was posted on a protester website. In it, he talks about the horrors of having to attend a college where evil professors and their robotic minions talk about diversity.
One of the things that really struck me recently at a different black lives matter protest was that people were very willing to chant #alllivesmatter. As a white person, I never felt excluded or "chased down". The tag #blacklivesmatter is an effort to be part of the conversation. It's saying, "Hey, seriously, we're here, we matter too!" Not to go after white people.
I now return you to reality. Where diversity is about including people. This includes white people. Equality is about everyone. That's why it's ... equality.
I also think it's a great idea to ask Major League Baseball (@MLB) (and other organizations) to support #blacklivesmatter. The reason MLB is important to Cincinnati is that the All-Star game is being held here this year.
