Heather Digby Parton @ Hullabaloo today (June 5, 2015):
He went on CNN and talked some real left wing crazy talk:
"You don't cut Social Security to save Social Security."
He then said that we should expand it.
What a kook.

Bernie Sanders: Nation must expand social security
Partial transcript:
Blitzer: "republican presidential candidates are suggesting that in order to make sure that Social Security survives baby boomers, millions who are about to start receiving Social Security, you gotta change it. Jeb Bush talks about raising the age from 65 to 68 [sic - lol - yes Jeb is ignorant] or even 70.
Chris Christie, Rand Paul, Lindsey Graham, all of them have said you need to make major changes in Social Security to protect Social Security..
Bernie Sanders: "that's the biz[arre]..
Blitzer interrupts: "to which YOU say.."
Bernie: "heh..You don't cut Social Security to save Social Security.
Right now somebody is making $118 thousand dollars a year; somebody's making $10,000,000 million a year. They're paying the same amount of money into the Social Security trust fund. You lift that cap and you start asking people above $250,000 dollars a year to start paying more into the system; Social Security could be extended for decades and we should expand benefits.
Look, what Perry and these other guys are talking about..this is the decades long attack on Social Security by the republican party. They want to privatize it eventually. The want to make cuts.
We have millions of seniors struggling..12.13..14..thousand dollars a year.
I will not accept cutting.."
Blitzer interrupts: "So you wouldn't accept raising the age?"
Bernie: "Of course not."
Blitzer: "what about means testing? Do billionaires and millionaires deserve to collect the same amount?"
Bernie cuts off the Blitzer BS republican spin::They're [GOP ] not talking about millionaires and billionaires they're talking about lowering it [the cap] to $ 40 thousand dollars a year. Social Security is..."
Blitzer again interrupts: "any means testing except.."
Bernie cuts off the 2nd Blitzer attempt at BS republican spin: "No. It's a universal program; everybody deserves to put into it. Everybody deserves to get a benefit out of it. We can extend that program by not asking anybody [for] more than the top 2% to contribute more into it. That's what we've got to do."
- the truth in today's political landscape
"what a kook" ...indeed
Contrast that with what Heather Digby Parton absolutely nails here (May 5, 2015):
The Republican campaign to destroy the poor stoops to a new low
The party of the rich is now doing everything in its power to make sure those without money live in misery
just a small example of Digby taking apart the best of the GOP:
Imagine making it so that banks can collect extra fees from mothers with small children who are trying to feed them on less than four hundred dollars a month. How cruel do you have to be to think that making them only carry 20 dollars cash will somehow teach them a lesson?
..and all of it true of these republicans
Kossack Bernie Sanders:

by Senator Bernie Sanders
Kudos Senator and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders for telling it like it is
And just in case anyone missed Bernie Rockin' it in Minneapolis:
