You'll miss him when he's gone.
Say what you want about Ben Carson,
he's bringing new ideas to the table!
Republican presidential contender Ben Carson said Wednesday that if elected next year he might implement a “covert division” of government workers who spy on their coworkers to improve government efficiency.
The pediatric neurosurgeon-turned-candidate told a crowd of Iowa Republicans he is “thinking very seriously” about adding “a covert division of people who look like the people in this room, who monitor what government people do.”
Carson suggested people would work harder if they suspected their coworkers of monitoring their work.
Well that sounds positively creepy and Orwellian. What, like one guy working for the BLM won't
really be working for the BLM, he'll just being going around to different desks to see which of his fellow employees are using an excessive number of paperclips?
Covertly? Or is this more of a Greg Abbott sending Texas military forces to "monitor" Jade Helm troops?
Once again, a Ben Carson spokesman quickly gets tasked with walking back the latest strange thing Ben Carson has ejected from his word-hole and turning it into speech that does not make the man sound like Glenn Beck muttering random phrases into city mailboxes.
Campaign communications director Doug Watts tried to clarify Carson’s comments in an email to msnbc. “Covert division? More like Secret Shopper, a quality control strategy used worldwide to improve customer service and customer care,” Watts said.
Hey, he said
covert division, not us. Don't mock the premise of the guy that signs your checks, Doug.
Ben Carson going to be glorious in the debates. They don't let your Official Campaign Explainer Guy on stage with you—or at least they haven't in past years. Given that we've got Carson, Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, Mike Huckabee, Carly Fiorina and Donald Trump himself in the mix this time around, maybe they should consider it. Everyone gets one minute to respond to the question, one minute for rebuttal, and one minute of a campaign manager explaining what they really meant.
