The Daily Bucket is a regular feature of the Backyard Science group. It is a place to note any observations you have made of the world around you. Rain, sun, wind...insects, birds, flowers...meteorites, rocks...seasonal changes...all are worthy additions to the bucket. Please let us know what is going on around you in a comment. Include, as close as is comfortable for you, where you are located. Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the patterns that are quietly unwinding around us.
No bucket today so far (or yesterday) so here is a quickie of some images of local wildlife here in Tallahassee from just about a month ago in mid-May. I had intended to post some of these as a first run of my new camera but never got around to it. So belatedly, here is a slice of life in the vicinity of Lake Jackson, north Tallahassee around May 15
Green anole on our screened porch.
American Coot - a few remain even now but most have left for the summer
Eastern pondhawk, the most common dragonfly in our neighborhood. The images are of a male. Females are commonly seen in our yard but I only see males along the lake.
Black vulture soaring
American Lotus flower
