Received this e-mail today from former Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto's (D. NV) U.S. Senate campaign:
Tea Party leaders in the Senate are trying to pull a bait-and-switch on women’s health.
They say their new bill would increase access to over-the-counter birth control pills. But really, it would just make them more expensive by letting insurance companies off the hook, forcing women to pay more – up to $600 annually.
Birth control isn’t accessible when it’s priced out of reach. Democrats have a better plan: Make sure that when the FDA approves over-the-counter birth control, insurance companies cover it, so that birth control is affordable AND accessible.
The Tea Party isn't happy that we’re calling their bluff – so if we want this bill to get to a vote, we have to make our voices heard. Will you sign your name to support the Affordability is Access Act today?

I stood up for Nevada women as attorney general, so I know how important this issue is. Access to birth control shouldn’t be a luxury that’s just for the people who can afford it: It’s basic health care, and we need to make sure that every woman can access the care she needs.
We’re not falling for a stunt that would put birth control out of reach for women who need it. Add your name to tell the Senate: We need affordable birth control!
Sign the petition and urge the Senate to pass the Affordability is Access Act!

Thanks for standing up for women’s health.
