This is the last straw.
Why futz around with nibbling around the edges of our national shame, the horror of unmitigated gun violence?
Why bother trying to pass silly laws meant to slow the carnage in this country of ours? If Congress won't pass little bills, let's go all the way and repeal the cause of our national shame and anguish.
Guns will no longer be a right, they'll be a privilege. Like driving a car or owning a house or a business. We can remove this privilege from those who cannot demonstrate responsible gun ownership or are a bad risk. We can make sensible laws that safeguard our citizens in their homes and persons.
I am tired of being "sensible" and waiting for that day when we can stop listening to the slow chant of victims names. When our children will no longer be mourned for no good reason, when our teens will no longer become famous for their suicides, murderous outbursts or horrible deaths.
The Second Amendment is as outdated as several others (when have you quartered soldiers anyway?) and we have a precedent for repealing a bad amendment (see Amendment 21).
The RKBA people can keep their guns as long as they are reasonable, responsible owners of firearms. We will no longer sell to those who have no right to own a gun. We will no longer live in fear of others who abuse the "right" to have a gun. We can be a sane nation and stop being a bad joke. (When a news anchor on British TV can say at the end of story about another shooting in the US, "That's what you get when you worship guns" you are not seen as a respectable nation.)
Who's going to stand up for freedom from fear? For peace? For our future?
