His holiness The Dalai Lama, at the Glastonbury Music Festival 2015, praised the popes warning of ecological disaster and calls to action. He also joined the pope call to action by saying “say more- we have to make more of an effort including demonstrations”.
Several Republican politicians have criticized the Pope for speaking out about environmental and economic issues, including Jeb Bush, Rick Santorum and James Inhofe. But at the Glastonbury panel on climate change, the Dalai Lama said Pope Francis was “very right,” and he appreciated him releasing the papal document. - ecowatch
He also included a firm statement reinforcing the pope's smack down of unbridled capitalism saying “The concept of war is outdated, but we do need to fight. Countries think about their own national interest rather than global interests and that needs to change because the environment is a global issue.
“It is not sufficient to just express views; we must set a timetable for change in the next two to four years.” he told a panel discussing issues of global warming that included Katharine Viner, the Guardian’s editor, and the Guardian columnist George Monbiot.
This diarist is beginning to believe that this might be some kind of sign of a seismic shift of public opinion on climate change.
