From scanning local newspapers online it looks like three more Texas counties are issuing same sex marriage licenses as of Monday, July 6. They are: Dickens (pop 2200), Kerr (pop 50562), and Lubbock (pop 294000). Lubbock County was the most populous county that until today was not issuing licenses.
Many couples that cannot yet obtain licenses in their county of residence are simply obtaining the license from nearby counties where the clerks are observing the law.
Here in Austin, the Travis County Clerk was open all three days of the holiday weekend (July 3- July 5), in order to issue licenses. District judges were on hand in order to waive the normal 72 hour waiting time for a marriage to occur after receiving a license.
Also in Austin, on July 4, there was a wedding ceremony held for about 2 dozen couples on the south steps of the state capitol. Local stores provided flowers and celebratory cupcakes for the folks getting married.
