New Hampshire Union Leader Interview with Jeb Bush
On line question: What do you think about climate change? Do you think its legitimate, if so do you think humans cause it, and if so what do you think we should we do about it?
John (Jeb) Bush: The climate's changing, the degree of which human involvement...I'm not, and i think its legitimate to have, to question the percentage of human involvement in it, but clearly the climate is changing.
Bush still lamely tries to reject the scientific consensus that human activity is the dominant driver of climate change and equivocates to muddy the issue and shield his Big Oil donors from any accountability.
I think its appropriate to recognize that the climate is changing, and invest in the proper research to find solutions over the long haul. But not be alarmist about it, not to say end is near, not de-industrialize the country, not create barriers to higher growth, not just totally obliterate family budgets which some on the left advocate by saying we need to raise the price of energy so high that renewables then become viable.
Ultimately there's going to be a person in a garage somewhere who comes up with a disruptive technology that will solve these problems. And I think markets need to be respected in this regard.
Jeb Bush thinks nothing must interfere with "higher growth" and markets are sacrosanct. Bush trusts markets not government to solve the problem of climate change. Jeb has a market fundamentalist's fanatical faith that markets will produce a genius in a garage somewhere who will invent a technological magic wand to banish excess carbon from our atmosphere and oceans. Until then it will be drill Baby drill! Because maybe we're not really at fault. Right? Above all we can't be alarmed by our predicament. That would make us Alarmists.
When it comes to Global Warming Jeb Bush would largely return to his sibling's disastrous business as usual, let things slide attitude.
For the last couple of days the weather here has been other worldly, eerie. I've never seen anything like it. The diffuse smoke from all the region's wildfires give everything a post-apocalyptic feel. Long lingering twilights and hazy sun mid day. I feel like I can see the world changing around me.
