It seems now a clear pattern than most of the latest mass murder have been committed with easy to acquire over the counter guns. Furthermore it seems clear that loopholes, deregulation and NRA pressure are making easier and easier for anyone to buy guns with no wait period, little to none requirements and even carry them around without any permit (constitutional carry, as gun lovers call the display of guns by everyone everywhere with no restrictions).
In the assassination of 4 marines in Chattanooga by a terrorist as in the assassination of 9 parishioners in Charleston the loopholes and loosening of regulations regarding the acquisition of lethal weapons is producing gruesome results.
The Chattanooga gunner had:
Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez, 24, killed four Marines and injured three other people on Thursday before he died in a shootout with police in Chattanooga.
"He did have at least two long guns, which would be considered rifles or shotguns. And he did have one handgun, that we're aware of," said FBI special agent Ed Reinhold.
"Some of the weapons were purchased legally and some may not have been."
Abdulazeez was not wearing body armor, but was wearing a vest allowing him to carry additional rounds of ammunition, Reinhold said.

The killer in this case was also using a type of gun that is not needed for any legal purpose other than for the love of having one. It seems that one of the long guns was some variation of an AK 47 and a
The shooter also wore a load-bearing vest capable of storing additional magazines of ammunition, Reinhold said.
We need better gun regulations. We need at least to run effective background checks on those purchasing guns. We need to keep a registration and a permit for owning those weapons. We also need a national or state insurance program for guns. Those basic are allowed by the horrible SC decision of Heller. One of the reasons we need a D president in the next election cycle no mater what is the SC,and one of the issues that is going to come to the SC soon is the fleshing out of what regulations Heller allows.
Edit:Following the great article from Juan Cole on this issue that ybruti has linked int he comments I discover that the Charleston shooter Dylan Roof had been looking for an AR 15 and already had magazines and accessories for it. He had six 40 rounds magazines and he didn't buy one just because he did not have the money for it at that time.
