Portland Mercado, Portland, OR's first Latino public market
It was another very hot day in Portland Saturday -- so the Koscadia Kossacks met in the air conditioned indoor space at the Portland Mercado. Sara R, winglion, pdxteacher, quill, also mom of 5, ozsea1, Angela Marx, AKBear, and Faye (who is not yet a member of Daily Kos but who will be joining) got together and ate well from the food trucks at the Mercado.
There were two items of business.
Item 1: Sara R and winglion brought a quilt top made from blocks signed at Netroots Nation in San Jose. It was offered (when a finished quilt) to Angela Marx to help raise funds for her Congressional campaign and to raise awareness of her platform. This was graciously accepted and the month of January 2016 penciled in for a blogathon and drawing on Daily Kos.
Item 2: Everybody wants to attend Bernie Sanders' video conference on July 29. There are a number of private homes around town who are already signed up as venues. Sara R and winglion have also offered to host in SE Portland and Angela Marx in Vancouver, WA if that is of interest. Llbear has also offered to host in Lake Oswego. (Please note in the comments if you have a preference of venues for the Sanders event).
We should have a follow up meeting -- would Saturday, Aug. 1 be convenient for you? And if anyone has druthers for a venue, please give a shout!
