I bet you are thinking Chicago or Detroit or Atlanta and you would be wrong. A clue for you, the town I live in is consistently named one of America's most livable cities, best place to retire or raise a family, get a good paying job, good schools. How can that be? If you are middle class or above, white Christian then all those things are probably true, but if you are a person of color, poor or disabled you need not apply for the good life it just doesn't include you and really never has.
Omaha Nebraska sits in the center of the country along the banks of the Missouri River just across from Council Bluffs Iowa. 42nd largest city in the US with a population of about 450,000. 73% are white, the remaining is made up a various ethnic groups with African Americans representing about 14%, the majority crammed into the North Omaha neighborhood North of Dodge St and East of 72nd to the river, segregated and neglected for more than 100 years. I have a little video that hits the highlights. The next installment will go into the history that got us here, you see Omaha is not so different than dozens of other places in this country.
