I'm a Sanders man. I love the guy. I expect to be voting for him.
I'm also a massive supporter of renewable energy and I was in DC a couple years ago to advocate for renewable energy and protest the pipeline, and I helped found a non-profit promoting renewable energy and worked to increase Michigan's renewable energy portfolio standard.
But...............
Let's get a reality check on Clinton's mum-ness on the Keystone XL pipeline.
Despite the absence of a pipeline, the oil has sold. People buy it. And you and I pump it into our cars. Pipeline or not. And when it sells it's shipped by truck and tanker, powered by oil.
We don't want the shitty Canadian tar sands to sell and yet, it still sells.
When the price is right...they have NO PROBLEM selling it. They never will.
People buy oil.
YOU buy oil.
And that oil can be shipped by pipeline or by oil tanker.
Clinton has a lot of faults. But her mum-ness on the Keystone XL pipeline isn't one of them.
We have GOT to start fighting the battles that matter. This one isn't one of them. ALEC and the Koch brothers are dismantling renewable energy standards, throwing up barriers to wind power and solar power. THESE are the ONLY things that will reduce our dependence on oil and coal. Showering shame on Clinton for not speaking out enough against a pipeline won't.
