To the many Americans who are against public hate speech, social media campaigns like StopRush, BoycottRush, and FlushRush are like gifts that keep on giving. After three years of nonstop protests, petitions, and boycotts against the 'King of Conservative talk radio,' Rush Limbaugh continues his downward spiral. This is a man who calls women '
receptacles for male semen,' likens gay men to 'pedophiles,' and calls hispanics '
spermatozoa.' He has been spewing
vile commentary on America's public airways for decades. Rush Limbaugh can't stop losing sponsors, radios stations and important ratings. This week
Buffalo News takes yet another bite out of Limbaugh's hateful ass. Now Rush Limbaugh is losing -
his listeners. Alan Pergament writes:
A large portion of valuable listeners in Western New York appears to have turned against – or at least turned off – conservative talk show Rush Limbaugh.
At first glance, Limbaugh is doing extremely well on WBEN-AM. The conservative talk station was No. 1 during the spring book from March 26 through June 17 from noon to 3 p.m. for listeners 12 years and older when Limbaugh is on the station. But Limbaugh lost almost half of his share of listeners from a year ago in the “money” demographic of listeners ages 25 through 54 that advertisers covet. Greg Ried, who runs all local Entercom stations, declined comment about Limbaugh’s demographic decline here, which reflects what is happening in some bigger markets. Back in late May, Ried said: “Rush still thrives on WBEN and has great ratings.” It will be tough to convince advertisers looking for 25-54 listeners of that now.
There's no question that Limbaugh's fall is due to everyday people becoming more proactive on social networks like Facebook and Twitter. Their concerns over hate speech on public radio have been ignored by mainstream media, corporations, and the government for too long. Now, social media allows people to organize and find a stronger voice that it not only heard loud and clear, it also reaches for the jugular of sponsoring companies and attacks their bottom line. In order for reputable advertisers to hold onto their customers, their reputations, and their livelihoods, they are learning to keep a distance from hate mongers like Rush Limbaugh. Before the protest, Rush Limbaugh was highly sought after and could pick the sponsors
he wanted. Now they run. Watching 'hate' lose its power is beautiful thing to behold. It gives us hope.

There are too many odious beings like Rush Limbaugh on public radio, in the media, and in this world. They are people who provoke hatred, bullying, abuse, and murder by their words and vile propaganda. About the time I start believing they will always win, faith kicks in with this quote, and the longer I live, the more I find it to be true:
“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always.” ― Mahatma Gandhi
Always.
Thank You, Kossack Richard Myers. You Are Still In Our Hearts. Rest In Peace. We Are Finishing This.
