Before I get into this, my graphics are coming back tonight and I am going to anger a few people with them. I'm not looking forward to the fallout, but these things need to be said.
Curious? Tune in at 8 p.m.
Now on to easier Targets!
So this week we saw Fox News freak out over Target and their ending gender based shelving for toys. It was hilarious.
TV star and therapist Tom Kersting went on Fox News to freak out about gender and Target and it was comedy at its best. “And I actually have clients of mine that are — don’t really know what gender they are. I don’t want to confuse kids that are young when we take them to a toy store, having them question what their gender is.” Said Kersting, cracking me up. It was several minutes of insanity and paranoia which would be funnier if they weren't being serious.
And you know there are some very ugly people who take it seriously.
Who cares about gender roles in toys. My youngest daughter loves princesses and building roads for her cars. She also loves building things in general. Yesterday, she sat in some gravel and played with the tractors at the farm we visited.
She also loves punk rock. I have never seen her light up more to a new song when Iggy Pop comes on the radio (And we listen to a great radio station. They regularly play The Clash, the Ramones and Patty Smith, as well as Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Janelle Monàe, and Beck. She is well rounded.) Punk is not much of a genre for girls either. (Sorry Patty Smith and Debbie Harry.) It's dominated by white men, which is weird because it's supposed to be anti-establishment.
Who cares about gender roles? I think that everyone should just follow their interests. I have a friend, he makes the most beautiful dresses and wears them. (He went to an Anime con dressed as Scarlett O'Hara, and made the most impressive entrance.) That makes him as happy as my punk listening, road building, toy car playing princess. They both would be miserable in a society which forces roles onto them.
If you like this support it and get bonus comics. This week, Donald Trump.
