A Larry McDonald for the 21st Century.
For those who missed the Reagan years, 1983 might as well be a Black Hole for mention by corporate media. That is when the Marine barracks in Beirut was bombed out killing 243. And in the prior month, on September 1st, a Korean airliner was shot down by a Russian missile. That killed 269.
Neither event produced retaliation. In Beirut our government had no idea who did that truck bombing. It took 20 years for the story of that action to reach public availability.
The KAL 007 shoot down remains a key event in Birch Society circles to this day. Their national president and an elected Representative from Georgia, Larry McDonald, was one of the victims.
The situation with Trump (as another McDonald) reminds one of Pim Fortuyn as discussed in another diary here.
McDonald pushed any number of bizarre legislative projects, making Trump seem relatively tame in comparison:
-- Repeal the Gun Control Act of 1968.
-- Prohibit Federal funds from being used to finance the purchase of American agricultural commodities by any Communist country.
-- Repeal the FCC regulations against editorializing and support of political candidates by noncommercial educational broadcasting stations.
-- Create a House Committee on Internal Security.
-- Impeach UN Ambassador Andrew Young.
-- Limit eligibility for appointment and admission to any United States service academy to men.
-- Direct the Comptroller General of the United States to audit the gold held by the United States annually.
-- Abolish the Federal Election Commission.
-- Get the U.S. out of the United Nations.
What? Half a Trump? Or is Trump half-a-McDonald?
He's a full size Limbaugh:
That's Trump on the left without his blonde-dyed hair plugs.
I can't imagine that Donald Trump is a serious offering -- even from the Kochs and their Bircher allies -- to run the country. Still, the Kochs are pushing his campaign, big time.
The Kochs supply Trump with his campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, and with his in-state organizers. That's Tea Party people going back to 2009/2010.
Getting the nomination? Getting smashed by a Democrat? The Kochs have to know Trump has a short shelf life -- he's not going to get it done as a wannabe president. As a candidate Trump loses 45%-55% or worse. As a martyr, yeah, he's perfect.
A new Larry McDonald? A new Huey Long? A new Saint Ronnie?
Something happens to Trump, they'll put him on the New Confederate money. He'll be Saint Donnie.
"Tell the truth and see what happens to you ?!" The world is set up down on White People, every time.
You got it first here. No question, the Kochs and their thugs could do damn near anything. This is not a Conspiracy Theory, a claim there's a scheme in the works. It's pointing out one play of the cards, one view of where self-interest can lead for the power brokers of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.
