Community Meeting Tonight: A public meeting will be held tonight at 7pm at the Plain Community Church, 12565 Chapel Drive, 20 miles north of Leavenworth.
Chelan Complex: Extreme fire behavior pushed the northwest perimeter of the fire across Fisher Creek yesterday, allowing it to become established in the Saint Louise Creek drainage. Crews were able to hold the northern part of the fire at Forest Service Road 600 and south of South Fork Creek. Conditions permitting, burnout will continue along Forest Service Road 8020 on Cooper Ridge while crews mop up along Forest Service Road 600. The fire made a significant run towards Goat Ridge and communication sites. Today, crews will continue to mop-up and hold the southern portion of the fire.
First Creek: The north end of the fire continued to be extremely active Tuesday afternoon and throughout the night, prompting structure protection near 25 mile throughout the night. Today crews will improve dozer line along the northern flank of the fire and expect the fire to continue to make uphill runs as it moves to the north. Structure protection continues along Lake Chelan, Field Points Landing and 25 Mile Creek area.
Wolverine: The south side of the fire made a push down the Entiat drainage yesterday. As of last night, the fire had reached Three Creeks and is approximately 10 miles northwest of the private land on Burns Creek. When the fire reaches Pope Creek, the Chelan County Sheriff will initiate level 2 discussions with the Incident Management Team for evacuations in the upper Entiat River drainage. Today crews will scout contingency lines south of Tommy Creek. Structure protection is being evaluated throughout the Entiat drainage. A spike camp has been established at the Entiat Park to accommodate crews working the southern perimeter of the fire. The fire’s growth to the south is expected to slow when it reaches the old Klone and Duncan burn areas. Crews will also evaluate options for contingency lines in the Rock Creek and Phelps drainages north of Fish Lake. As a precautionary measure, the Wenatchee River Ranger District has closed access to the Chiwawa Valley, west of the Entiat River. The fire is currently 15 miles north of Plain.
Weather: Cloud cover is expected to increase today, with a disturbance passing to the south of the area this afternoon. This disturbance could result in gusty and erratic winds. There is also a slight possibility of dry lightning. Temperatures are expected to be in the 80s in the valleys and the 70s on the ridges. Humidity should run in the mid teens in the valleys up to 30% along the ridgeline.
Evacuation/Aid Information: Level 3 evacuations are in place for the Lakeshore area north of Granite Slide. Residents in the area of any of the fires are urged to remain vigilant. Evacuation information is available from Chelan and Okanogan County Emergency Management. Red Cross shelters at Sterling Intermediate School and Morgan Elementary School will relocate to the Lake Chelan United Methodist Church, 206 N. Emerson in Chelan at noon today.
