The Onion's crystal balls are a bit fuzzy. But their reporting on future events still beats the reporting of past events most "news" organizations can't seem to get right.
Consider this story from 2004:
Libertarian Reluctantly Calls Fire Department
NEWS IN BRIEF
April 21, 2004
VOL 40 ISSUE 16
CHEYENNE, WY—After attempting to contain a living-room blaze started by a cigarette, card-carrying Libertarian Trent Jacobs reluctantly called the Cheyenne Fire Department Monday. "Although the community would do better to rely on an efficient, free-market fire-fighting service, the fact is that expensive, unnecessary public fire departments do exist," Jacobs said. "Also, my house was burning down." Jacobs did not offer to pay firefighters for their service.
The following picture was taken Aug 22, 2015 in Okanogan, WA (not Cheyenne, WY) and

The caption reads:
Homeowner Brad Craig, right, thanks departing firefighters who he said saved his home from a wildfire Saturday morning, Aug. 22, 2015, in Okanogan, Wash. Craig said that the team of firefighters saved his home from burning down after he saw flames advancing earlier that morning. Out-of-control blazes in north-central Washington have destroyed buildings, but the situation is so chaotic that authorities have "no idea" how many homes may have been lost. I am sure this fiercely independent Tea Party activist with his "We The People" tattoo was forced to flee the flames without time to grab much. That's the only way I could explain his thanking the socialist firefighters of Snohomish County while wearing a shirt that says "Less Taxes + Smaller Government = MORE FREEDOM."
