Way back in the 1970's, "SoylentGreen" postulated an overpopulated, hungry Earth, (did you notice it was much hotter, too?). At the time I had an (disturbing) vision of a 30 foot wall on our southern border, with huge trucks using hydraulic rams to dump people over the wall, without regard for their lives. With the Trump phenom, it seems possible, however unlikely.
The current hot ticket in fossil fuel extraction, fracking, has already caused hundreds of earthquakes in Oklahoma, and will probably poison every well left in that state, are we going to see a new wave of "Okies" as in the thirties, fleeing a waterless wasteland? With the clearly accelerating climate changes multiplying and feeding off each other, the effects on humans will be severe, especially in places that can least cope. This will yield massive migrations, and, given the stupidity of the austerity believers, governments will be even less able to cope. Which of the many distopias do you think is most likely?
