So, apparently Kim Davis thinks her ‘God’s’ laws takes precedence over the law and the Constitution and even her Oath of Office to uphold the Constitution.
Of course, don’t pretty much all of the Radical RW religious fundamentalists believe they should have special rights?
After being rebuffed by the Supreme Court and therefore exhausting the appeals process, Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis denied a marriage license to a gay couple today for the fifth time since the legalization of same-sex marriage. Davis is part of a small group of county clerks who claim that their interpretation of divine law trumps their responsibilities as public officials. Demanding that one couple seeking a marriage license leave her office, Davis said that she is acting “under God’s authority.”
Well Davis,
God’s authority may be
supreme in your church, your private life, etc. but NOT in your capacity as an elected
public official!
In your capacity as a public official Secular law and the Constitution are Supreme!
Oh and kindly show us where your oath of office which you willingly took says anything about upholding your religious beliefs. And of course what makes your religious beliefs any more valid than anyone else’s who disagrees with you, in the first place?
Surely you can see that America would in a state of anarchy if everyone could follow their religious beliefs in the public sphere, at the cost of the rights of others not to be discriminated against and have their rights denied!
Well I guess you cannot see that or more likely you don’t care as long as you can deny Civil Rights to others you don’t like! And as long as you get your special rights!!
See the video below for her interaction with the same sex couple who came in for their marriage license, yet again, only to be denied AGAIN!
Liberty Counsel is quite excited that Davis intends to break the law by denying same-sex couples their legal right to marry, as they believe it boosts their claim that gay marriage leads to the persecution of Christians.
Ah, no Liberty Counsel, Christians are not being persecuted! Public officials like Kim Davis are simply being told to do their job as they were elected to do, and swore an oath to do!
It is not called persecution when ‘Christians’ operating in the public sphere are expected to do their jobs or suffer the consequences! Davis is making a choice to defy the law which she is NOT allowed to do and like anyone else who defies the law she will be punished accordingly!
Mat Staver of the Liberty Counsel said:
He has repeatedly claimed that gay marriage will lead to a rekindling of the Civil Rights Movement — comparing gay marriage opponents to Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. — along with a revolution and second civil war.
Oh that’s original, Staver is comparing Davis not being allowed to discriminate against others, with those being discriminated against!
Argh, where do these people get their logic from. Or should I say lack OF?
BTW: Davis what are you going to do if the Judge hands you a piece of paper and orders you to read it? You remember the one right? It is the one representing the Oath of Office you took when you were sworn in!
And then what will you do when he asks you why you are breaking your Oath of Office in addition to violating a legal Court order?
Oh and one last thing Davis!
You know you are barking up the wrong tree when even Scalia votes not to grant your appeal and extend the stay!!
Now THAT says something!
