For the past few weeks, Jeb! (who, for some reason, doesn't appear to have a last name) has borne the brunt of Donald 'Talk To The Hat' Trump's attacks.
For a long while, it seemed as if Jeb! had the center-ring to himself; it looked as if he was going to win the title without a fight because, seriously, who else was there?
The rest of field consisted of mopes, dopes and no-hopers.
But then (play theme from 'Rocky'), another contender stepped into the ring.
Yes, it was the plucky little scrapper from Queens, Don 'Hurricane' Trump.
'Hurricane' had an unorthodox style. Not so much what the great A.J. Liebling called 'The Sweet Science', more like a Three Stooges short.
His signature move was The Corksrew Badger, where he simultaneously punched Jeb! in the balls, called him a 'loser' on Fox News, insulted Megyn Kelly and Mexico and brought out a new line of Trump dress socks.
It was a killer and Jeb! returned to his corner to confer with his trainers and inject some more embalming fluid. And now he's back, baby...!!!
According to The Washington Post:
MIAMI — Jeb Bush went on the offensive Tuesday against GOP presidential front-runner and frequent antagonist Donald Trump, releasing an attack video portraying the mogul as a closet liberal and signaling that he will attempt to bring Trump down in coming weeks.
“He attacks me every day. He attacks me every day with barbarities,” Bush said in Spanish in response to questions from reporters at a Presbyterian school here. “They’re not true. What we did today was to put out in his words to show that he’s not conservative.”
Oh, that'll do it, Jeb! Stealing the Latino vote from...erm...Trump? Wait a second:
that's your strategy. Oh, brother...
So, what else you got?
The escalation came after Trump released an aggressive video Monday that flashed mug shots of men charged with or convicted of murder as Bush’s comments that undocumented immigrants enter the United States as “an act of love” played in the background.
The video Bush released Tuesday strings together clips from past interviews of Trump praising Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton and voicing support for abortion rights, tax increases for wealthy Americans and the 2009 economic stimulus program.
Nope...not feeling it. What else?
A new Loras College poll of likely Iowa Republican caucusgoers released Tuesday showed Trump leading the pack, with 25 percent support. Bush lagged behind at 10 percent and has finished even lower in other recent surveys.
Soooo...you got nuthin'. And 'Hurricane' agrees:
“Yet another weak hit by a candidate with a failing campaign,” Trump tweeted Tuesday. “Will Jeb sink as low in the polls as the others who have gone after me?”
We can only hope, 'Hurricane'. You hang in there, kiddo: we're rooting fer ya...just like every Democrat in the country.
