The gold standard Iowa poll is looking more like an outlier everyday. This new Loras poll finds:
Hillary Clinton continues to hold a sizeable advantage over her nearest rivals according to the new Loras College Poll released today. The news is not all positive for Clinton, however, as her level of support has decreased since the last Loras Poll in April. Perhaps more importantly, the latest poll shows the support for her nearest rival, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, has risen dramatically.
The Numbers:
Hillary Clinton - 48.2%
Bernie Sanders -22.9%
Joe Biden -16.3%
Martin O’Malley - 4.0%
Lincoln Chafee - 0.6%
Jim Webb - 0.4%
Undecided - 6.4%
Favorability
Clinton - 77.5%
Sanders - 60.8%
Political Demos
Income below 50K: Clinton – 55% --Sanders 20.6%
Supporters who have College or graduate degrees: Sanders 64.3% -- Clinton 47.9%
High School Only: Clinton 56% -- Sanders 13%
Very Liberal Clinton leads 45.1% / 40.2%
Women: Clinton 54.2% / 21.4%
Much Love for Obama and Dem Party
Unlike Republicans surveyed in the same poll, Democrats are supportive of their national party leadership: 66.5 percent agreed with the statement, “I generally approve of the job performance of national Democratic leaders, and we need to support them.” Only 23.7 percent indicated a change in party leadership was needed.
There is widespread support for President Obama, as 80.9 percent indicate they approve of his job performance.
The other poll is Gravis Marketing that found:
Hillary Clinton - 45%
Martin O'Malley - 5%
Bernie Sanders - 17%
Elizabeth Warren - 13%
Jim Webb - 1%
Undecided - 14%
Now, why they are still polling Warren? I have no clue. At any rate, the polling average found for Iowa is Clinton 49.1/25.2 which is statistically the same as the Loras poll.
