Mike Huckabee thinks he is qualified for and deserves to be our next President, yet he
advocates for lawlessness and defying the Supreme Court ruling on Marriage Equality.
It should come as no surprise that he attempts to justify this because of his and other Christian’s religious beliefs.
Below the orange fold are a few quotes followed by a video which he cites as rationale for why it is OK and even the right thing to do, to defy the Supreme Court ruling.
Predicting that gay marriage will put Christian-led hospitals and universities “out of business,” Huckabee said he would direct the Justice Department to defend people who are supposedly being oppressed by gay marriage. He specifically pointed to the Oregon bakers who violated a state nondiscrimination law — not marriage law — by denying service to a gay couple.
Right, never mind that the bakery owner was operating as a public business which has never been allowed to flout non-discrimination laws because of religious beliefs.
But of course Huckbaee wants to utilize a Government agency to defend them, using taxpayer funds in the process.
“I’d love for the Department of Justice to be sent in to defend the Klein’s against an outrageous attack on their religious liberty,” he said.
Except that it’s not an attack on their religious liberty. What it IS, is not giving a public business special rights to violate the law. Apparently Huckabee does not understand that concept or is it that he does not want to?
In other words Huckbaee is supporting and advocating for lawlessness and all the perpetrator has to do is claim religious beliefs and Huckabee will back them all the way and even use the Government to protect them if he were to get elected!
In the conversation, which W. Scott Lamb of Reformation Press posted online two weeks ago, Huckabee also repeated his call for elected officials to defy the Supreme Court’s marriage equality ruling and his warning that gay marriage will lead to anti-Christian persecution.
A call to openly defy a Supreme Court ruling because of his religious beliefs. He is calling for lawlessness and could not care one iota about the anarchy which would result if his advice is followed.
If he were to be elected President his words and his advice would carry a lot more weight with many people and in many ways America could become a virtually lawless country because hey, I’m defying the law because of a sincerely held religious belief!
I truly cannot even imagine having a President who calls for such un-American ideals!
Listen carefully to the video below for more of what Huckabee would push for if he were to be elected as our President.
He talks about businesses like hospitals, colleges, etc. losing Federal funds or backing and possibly accreditation if they don’t comply with the law and the Supreme Court ruling.
I think it is truly sad that Huckabee, along with many other RW Republicans believe that Federal funds should go toward businesses that practice discrimination!
If a college for example is a private Christian college then they are protected by the 1st amendment and can refuse to recognize or house same sex married couples, but the Government is certainly not required to provide any funding for such a college at taxpayer expense!
In the video Huckabee also gives an example of a Christian hospital refusing to list two legally married men as parents of a child even though they meet all legal requirements as parents. I think it is truly sad that someone who wants to be our next President would actually support and defend a hospital that tries to strip away the rights of a child’s parents!
Here is another link from a few days before the Supreme Court ruling in which Huckabee compared the expected Supreme Court Marriage Equality decision and compared it to the Supreme Court Dred Scott decision of 1857.
"What if no one had acted in disobedience to the Dred Scott decision of 1857?” Huckabee asked, referring to the Supreme Court case that concluded African-Americans could not be considered citizens of the U.S. "What if the entire country had capitulated to judicial tyranny and we just said that because the Supreme Court said in 1857 said that a black person wasn’t fully human? Suppose we had accepted that, suppose Abraham Lincoln, our president, had accepted that, would that have been the right course of action?"
Wow, just wow! So Huckabee compares a Supreme Court decision which we all know was wrong because it violated the rights of fellow human beings to the expected Supreme Court Marriage Equality ruling which affirmed the Civil Rights of fellow human beings!
And to Huckabee, apparently that is a valid and logical comparison! As I said, just WOW!
So, no Huckabee, we don’t want you anywhere near the White House! Someone who supports and encourages lawbreaking does not have any call to be President!
