Trump perfected his big mouth and fake fights with his WWE buddies
Donald Trump sent a letter to CNN President Jeff Zucker and then promptly released it to the public. In the letter, he humbly explains that Jeff and CNN should be grateful he's participating the Republican debates and as such, he thinks CNN should donate 100% of the profits to "veterans."
"While I refuse to brag, and you know very well, this tremendous increase in viewer interest is due 100% to 'Donald J. Trump.'"
He directed CNN to donate profits to "various veterans groups" and went on to brag about his own support of veterans, something the NY Times and veterans groups
dispute:
“Donald Trump is not a leader in veterans’ philanthropy, unless he’s donated a lot of money that nobody knows about,” said Paul Rieckhoff, founder and chief executive of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. “We were founded in New York. We are headquartered in New York. I’ve been here 10 years, and I don’t think I’ve ever even seen Donald Trump.”
And for a man of such extreme wealth, his real contributions have been on the slim side:
But a review of publicly available records of Mr. Trump’s charitable contributions shows that relatively little of his money has gone to programs that support veterans. While he has donated millions of dollars to charities like the United Way and the American Heart Association, records show that he gave at least $20,000 and possibly as much as $50,000 to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund in 2003 and 2004. He donated in later years for unspecified amounts.
No wonder he's trying to use his gold-plated megaphone to simultaneously put CNN in a very uncomfortable position, sway veteran support and not have to spend a penny of his own money to do it. This guy is pure, evil genius. Nowhere near presidential, but you've got to hand it to him for being such a good media circus ringmaster.
