Clinton, Sanders, O'Malley, Deez Nuts... Regardless of whom you prefer, let's do this one constructive thing when posting diaries about our presidential candidates.
We already know that winning the presidency by itself isn't enough to move our Democratic policy agenda forward. Our success in the next four years will depend even more on electing Democrats to Congress, state legislatures, city councils, etc.
But down-ticket races often aren't sexy enough to attract attention in their own stand-alone diaries.
Let's make this a habit, an informal guideline, a "soft" rule going forward: Every writer who posts a diary about the presidential candidate they prefer/detest should also tack something else onto the bottom of the diary -- a bit of useful news about a down-ticket race or candidate in their area. Someone good.
Copy/paste a little update from your Democratic congressperson's campaign or from the candidate for school board. Put in a link to their fundraising page. Pen a snippet about what makes the candidate a good candidate, deserving of our support. Hell, write about why your town needs a Democratic dog catcher if that works for you.
Reduce unwanted acrimony with this one weird trick. We're all in the same party, so we might as well cooperate.
