Don't forget the Animal Nuz on Saturday.
Tonight's probable repeat: Bradley Cooper; Andrew Garfield; actor Jake McDorman. Also: Wiz Khalifa performs with Fall Out Boy.
I left the house at 2:30pm on a Friday afternoon for a quick errand run into Bigfork. Simple, get some smokes, gas in the truck, Lottos for tonight, enchilladas to go from a Mexican place I hadn't tried yet and a Post Office stop. 90 minutes, tops.
There are two turns on the access road; a right-hander at the bottom of a steepish downslope straight run and then further down a switchback. Both curves can accommodate two wide traffic under controlled driving.
Coming up to the first curve (righthander) I see a pickup pulling a smaller utility trailer coming downhill and he has his brakes locked up...and I got NO. PLACE. to. go. I know the curve, I always swing as much to the right as I can. There are some big rocks that serve as an ad hoc guardrail.
Boom, he hits me right on/behind my left front wheel. Bounces off a bit because of the angle of contact then hits me again at the back of the cab/corner of box.
Call local agent, the other guy is out walking around, we talk and he admits fault. It takes him a while to get his information together from his local agent. I hear from mine about 3 hours later. In the meantime her receptionist has hooked me up with Progressive (my insurer) Call AAA, things get bolloxed up in short order there, but it gets resolved and a towtruck is there...at 5:30pm. Call 911, get Flathead County (I'm 100-200 yards inside Lake County still) so they transfer me and a HP gets the call. He shows up a coupla hours later. Then there was making arrangements with Enterprise, they "close at 6pm"
The guy kept saying, "I'm not gonna dispute that I was not at fault." After 2-4 iterations I call him on it (You're not gonna dispute that you are at fault) and he says "Yeah that's what I meant." Don't know what he said to HP, but he got the citation. He says he will appear in Polson just cuz showing up might get the ticket reduced ($85). He's a painting contractor and it's his company, and he lives in Whitefish.
So, I'm unhurt and driving a Hyundai Sonata. Got home with my to go enchilladas at 8pm.
It was just supposed to be a quickie errand run into Bigfork and back...90 minutes tops.
