Carly Fiorina has had some pretty
glowing things to say about Hillary Clinton in the past, as the Clinton campaign has made sure to spread around. So maybe it shouldn't be a surprise that Clinton's not the only Democrat Fiorina is currently attacking about whom that's true.
Back in 2010, when she was running for Senate in California:
She said last week that she supported President Obama's effort to repeal "don't ask, don't tell," the policy excluding openly gay individuals from military service.
The week before that, when asked for an assessment of the president's first year in office, she said that although she disagreed with him on the economy and the decision to close the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, "I agree with many of the things he's done. . . . I think that he is doing everything he can to keep the nation safe and I applaud him for that."
Of course, back then she had her eye on general election voters in a blue state. Now, when she's fighting for Republican primary voters in states like Iowa and South Carolina, it's a different story. (Though she said these things during the primary, the
Los Angeles Times noted that "The one topic she typically doesn't mention on the stump, unless asked, is her primary opposition"—she was doing what Jeb Bush thought he was going to do in this presidential primary by running with the general electorate in mind.)
