A mass movement can match the fundraising power of the moneyed elite. Too bad the Clinton campaign is still stuck in the past.
You've already seen the
quarterly fundraising numbers for the Democratic primary campaign.
Hillary Clinton:
Democratic presidential contender Hillary Rodham Clinton pulled in $28 million for her 2016 bid in the third fundraising quarter of the year
Bernie Sanders:
Sanders's fundraising picked up over the summer, helping him collect more than $25.5 million over the last three months
We know the kind of campaign Sanders is running: A never-ending stream of public rallies and appearances. We also know what kind of campaign Clinton is running: A never-ending stream of
high-dollar fundraisers at the homes of wealthy benefactors.
One of these tactics is getting people excited, boosting poll numbers, and raising money in the mid-$20 millions. Another one is disengaging potential supporters, killing poll numbers, and raising just above the mid-$20 millions.
So which one is the better approach? I mean, what genius said, "Let's do the same thing we did on the way to losing the nomination in 2008, because obviously nothing has changed!" Some genius at Clinton HQ, that's who. And by all indications, her campaign handlers appear idiotically committed to staying the course. Unbelievable.
