I've been wanting to write about the 'God' Candidate for years, tonight I have my chance.
The 'God' Candidate has it easier than any candidate in the history of politics. The 'God' Candidate can do no wrong.
More below, but first, a word from our sponsor ...

If things go well (yes, even things with no political connection), the 'God' Candidate gets the credit. If things go badly, no matter what their nature or cause, the 'God' Candidate's opponent(s) get the blame. Woe unto him/her/them who are not on the side of the 'God' Candidate's believers.
The 'God' Candidate has other huge advantages. Does not have to appear for the campaign to go forward. Does not have to say anything. Certainly does not have to DO anything. The 'God' Candidate will still get full credit for anything good that happens. That's a major way the 'God' Candidate's believers may prove and demonstrate the power of their faith in the 'God' Candidate.
The faith need never be critically examined. (In fact, it MAY not be.) That faith may never be questioned. That faith may never be challenged, or it was not true faith.
Anything on the 'God' Candidate's periphery may not be questioned or examined, lest that draw believers' faith into question. No issue with any applicability to the 'God' Candidate's campaign or causes may be questioned or examined. Contrary facts are as nothing to the 'God' Candidate's believers. If it is contrary, no matter WHAT the evidence, that evidence cannot be true. And anyone stating otherwise, no matter what, must necessarily be liars or deluded.
The 'God' Candidate canNOT be wrong. Just can't be. The 'God' Candidate is perfect, and always will be. And the 'God' Candidate's believers will vote for the 'God' Candidate until the cows come home.
And forever after.
ps: The ‘God’ Candidate is ALWAYS Republican, by definition. Perfect fit with a purely black and white world view.
ps2: Whoever Republicans nominate automatically becomes the new 'God' Candidate.
Thanks for reading! On to tonight's comments!
Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.
From ZenTrainer:
I would like to submit this comment by Meteor Blades in one of the daily candidate diaries Gordon 20024 slogs away at.
(Ed. note: A finer endorsement could not be had! Comment is out of recommendability but well worth the read!)
From ozsea1:
In the back and forth commentary of this diary, by VL Baker, I found this gem, by Anakai. (Ed. note: Also no longer recommendable, but still please read.
From Angela Marx:
I am recommending this comment by Stoicidal, in this diary, by kos.
kos couldn't have written a better diary if he had simply used the comment as the text with that captioned photo.
This is your state.
This is your state on GOP.
Any questions?
From Tara the Antisocial Social Worker:
Still laughing my way through the comments on this diary! As you might expect, the comments in HarpboyAK's diary "U of Texas propose open carry of dildos protest" are hilariously NSFW. My favorite so far is this one by Elwood Dowd.
From doingbusinessas:
I am submitting this concise comment of enormous insight by xaxnar, in xaxnar's diary on Paul Krugman.
Ed. note: Comment fits super well with the theme of tonight's TC diary! Thank you, doingbusinessas, and thank you, xaxnar!)
