Three candidates too many.
Jim Webb, which has raised less money than you can find under my couch cushions, is in all-whine cry-baby mode, sending out this email:
I'll be very frank here. It was rigged in terms of who was going to get the time on the floor by the way that Anderson Cooper was selecting people to supposedly respond to someone else. I even turned around to Bernie Sanders at one point and said, 'Bernie, say my name, will you say my name?
For one, Webb should be happy he wasn't called more, since every thing that came out of his mouth was cringeworthy. Seriously, you want to brag about your war kills (why not dangle his ear trophy while at it?), a Democratic debate really isn't the place.
But really, there are two candidates that matter in the Democratic field—Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Everyone else might as well be Mike Gravel, or one of the Republicans in the kids table debates. In fact, let's do that! Let's stick Webb, Lincoln Chafee and Martin O'Malley at a separate kids table debate, so that we can spend the full amount of time on the front-runner and the one who has built a legitimate national movement, one that has been financially competitive with Clinton and has lapped the GOP field.
Lincoln Chafee raised $15,000 last quarter. Fuck him for wasting our time on that stage. Jim Webb raised just shy of $700,000, less than many HOUSE candidates. Fuck him for wasting our time. Martin O'Malley raised $1.2 million, less than many SENATE candidates. I won't say "fuck him" to him, but seriously, he's also wasting our time. Oh, and fuck CNN for inflicting them on the rest of us.
If you haven't been able to bust out of "1 percent" territory in the polls at this point, the problem isn't a lack of debate questions or even money (since Bernie started with pretty much zero). The problem isn't someone or something else. The problem is you. So stay in if you want, no one cares! Just leave the stage for the real candidates and, if nothing else, be grateful for whatever unjustified crumbs the moderators send your way.
