So this is really happening. These reports from Rachel Maddow & team have incorporated the latest polling numbers
Trump solidifies lead in latest polls
October 19, 2015
Rachel Maddow looks back at how frequently the lead in the 2012 Republican primary changed hands, but notes that the 2016 race is following a different course and Donald Trump's lead has been so consistent that political observers are beginning to believe it's not a fluke.
(short ad - sorry)
The GOP establishment is beyond worried, they're frantic now. Plans are underway to launch a massive anti-Trump ad campaign to "right" an out of control republican presidential nomination process.
Here is the title of an article by one of the leading "conservative" outfits; The National Review (which I will not link to, but the title should be sufficient for any who choose to look it up):
The Establishment Thinks the Unthinkable: Trump Could Win the Nomination
Here are a couple of excerpts:
...just three months from the Iowa caucuses, members of the Republican establishment are starting to give voice to an increasingly common belief that Donald Trump, once dismissed as joke, a carnival barker, and a circus freak, might very well win the nomination.
[...]
“Trump has sustained a lead for longer than there are days left” before voting begins in Iowa, says Steve Schmidt, who managed John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign. “For a long time,” Schmidt says, “you were talking to people in Washington, and there was a belief that there was an expiration date to this, as if there’s some secret group of people who have the ability to control the process.”
Trump dominance makes him a target of GOP
October 20, 2015
Rachel Maddow reports on the latest polling of Republicans which finds that Donald Trump's continued dominance is exposing him to attacks from establishment Republicans, and Lindsey Graham has finally cracked 0% to secure a place at CNBC's kids table debate.
Note: this next video segment by Rachel Maddow was "hot off the press" so to speak and would embed but not yet play (load). I'm hoping that by the time I post this diary it will work. If not, here is a link to the same Rachel Maddow video in the newer embed format that I am unable to post:
Trump dominance makes him a target of GOP
and a link to a Lawrence O'Donnell segment covering much of the same material:
GOP Groups Conspire Against Trump
October 20, 2015
The Club for Growth is now running negative ads against GOP front-runner Donald Trump, but are those ads showing results in the polls? If they don’t, how will the GOP establishment respond? Then, Trump answers whether he would support Jeb if he was the GOP nominee
(short ad - sorry)
From the right-wing Examiner is this headline:
Panicked Establishment gets ready for war against Trump
This weekend was an inflection point in the Republican presidential race — a moment in which some significant part of the GOP establishment came out of denial and realized Donald Trump might well become their party's nominee.
"The Republican establishment, for the first time, is saying, off the record, this guy can win," noted Joe Scarborough on MSNBC Monday morning. "I've heard that from everybody. I don't hear anybody saying he can't win the nomination anymore."
On another note; Some republican House members are at the point where they're grumbling about quitting congress if Paul Ryan is not elected speaker. This is one of a number of results that can be directly linked to the GOP's RedMap (gerrymandering) Project; a virtual firewall.
The republican party, in their effort to eliminate any possibility that a Dem candidate could take a republican held seat, gerrymandered this virtual firewall in conjunction with campaigns built on fear-mongering attack ads (and not a little racism) ended up electing a group of unfit fringe congresspersons protected from normal electoral challenges of a more moderate republican that very likely could have corrected this warping of the legislature.
Paul Ryan's response? Ryan has now declared his own demands of the hostage caucus' (teabag/freedom/liberty caucuses - that is) in this next video segment:
Paul Ryan sets condition of unified GOP support to run for speaker
..what a mess and richly deserved; The only republican congressman that has any realistic chance to become speaker of the house has to have his own ransom demands satisfied by the current republican congressmen & women before he'll even consider taking the job. Speaker of the United States House of representatives, 2nd in line to the Presidency. Unbelievable
Fox "News", the powerhouse of right-wing propaganda and core advertising wing of the corporate shell company aka the GOP is losing to a clown.
Wow
This year, whether we are ready for change, perhaps even revolutionary change, it is happening all around us. It is not because of Trump, but despite him and the black-hole of missing quality and substance on the "conservative"right he has exploited and filled.
I'm convinced we Dems can steer this phenomenon amongst the people where it needs steering. I'm also convinced that along with Senator and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders as our candidate (and Hillary Clinton if that is the way it ends up) and special focus on down ballot races throughout the country, we have a rare opportunity to capture, guide and build on this change for the better.
In rwnj speak: we can also "capitalize on" the over-reaching foul agenda of dishonesty that has the GOP unraveling - still don't like that expression much - at all
With one last update: Boehner has stated that he will allow the rwnj's one more attempt to repeal PPACA Healthcare (Obamacare); the 50th plus attempt, via reconciliation process. So, more useless idiocy. This, with approximately one week left until the Debt ceiling needs doing. SMH
Just a bit of news this 20th day of October 2015 - and time to turn in - be back tomorrow :)
