Ben Carson is a vocal opponent of the scourge of political correctness on college campuses. Damn liberals, using their power on campuses to silence and oppress brave conservative voices!
Carson's view is that, "It's time for people to stand up and proclaim for what they believe and stop being bullied." Oh, and it's also time for the federal government to institute Ben Carson-style political correctness on campuses:
During an interview, Glenn Beck asked Carson if he would shut down the Education Department as president.
"I actually have something I would use the Department of Education to do," Carson responded. "It would be to monitor our institutions of higher education for extreme political bias and deny federal funding if it exists."
So "political correctness" consisting of social pressure to not be a bigot = bad, bad thing that we need to stand up to. And one of the ways we can stand up to it is by denying federal funding to schools if they embrace ideas Ben Carson doesn't like. Okay, then.
The more you follow Carson, the more you realize the staggering scope of his inability to engage in even George W. Bush-level self-reflection and awareness of his massive contradictions. It doesn't even seem like cynical hypocrisy with Carson: It's more like he simply cannot hear himself.
