Received this e-mail today from former Rep. Baron Hill's (D. IN) U.S. Senate campaign:
Since the 1950s, the Perkins Student Loan Program has helped make the dream of a college degree a reality for low-income students.
Unfortunately, Congress woefully allowed the program to lapse. And unless we take decisive action right now, this critical measure will be gone forever -- closing the door on higher education for thousands of Hoosiers.
Tell Congress: College be should accessible to all who wish to pursue it. Add your name to demand lawmakers renew the Perkins Student Loan Program >> http://www.save-perkins-loans.com/...
A college degree is becoming a necessity to succeed in today's workplace. It's an important first step to starting a career -- and a degree from an institution of higher education should be accessible to all who seek it. This opportunity shouldn't be closed off to those who can't easily afford it.
Without the Perkins Loan Program, America's workforce will miss out on the talent, intelligence, and determination from the millions of students who will no longer be able to afford higher education. We can't let that happen.
Congress is failing Indiana's students. And I won’t give up without a fight. Are you with me?
Stand with me and thousands of Hoosier students. Click here to insist Congress renew Perkins Student Loans.
